Can anyone go through the basics when it comes to getting a twangy country lead sound? Along the lines of Brent Mason or Vince Gill, etc.

Any input is welcome and much appreciated.

Thanks,

Reid

Hey Reid,

I hope I can be of some help.
I have a super twangy guitar.
A Strat or Tele with single coil pickups is what you are after.
The setting between bridge and middle is sensational.
Once you have that going on you need to nail a good right hand technique. The best reference I would give you is to learn some Jerry Reed material. He was particularly aggressive with his right hand and while it is a little tricky to emulate his style, even halfway there will do the job.
So grab your strat/tele and sit down and learn 'Jerrys' Breakdown'.

Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Peter G

I would say go for something single coiled but I think the key is compression.

You need something to even up the volume across the strings in my opinion and as PeterG said play agressively with your right hand - Try out some Albert Lee stuff. ..
