Dear Mr. Garsed,

I have both of your videos and I love them!!

Do you have any suggestion for me of how to practice hybrid picking?

Also, do you know of any methods, DVDs, etc, that have a complete approach to the hybrid technique?

Thanks!!!
Very Happy

Brett is the master at this style so if i was you and wanted to play this way then take your time with his DVD.Dont rush the lessons and make sure your understand the theory behind what your playing too

Thanks for the tips JJW!

I still would love to hear Brett's suggestions.

Yes, he shows a lot of what he does JJW... I really appreciate that.
However, I am really interested in developing my own style.

I love all the phrases and licks that Brett plays. (I already play them all....but I don't want to sound like a clone...).

I am interested in developing my own musical voice.

Very Happy

You may want to check out Gustavo's book at http://www.gustavoassisbrasil.com
It's a very comprehensive study on the hybrid style drawing from classical and also flamenco so I'm sure you'll get some great ideas there. Ultimately a technique is only a means to play what you're hearing in your imagination so try to imagine interesting phrases and then develop the technical approach required to play them.

Thanks Brett!!

Gustavo's hybrid picking book just arrived!

Thanks for the suggestion!

The guy is incredible and his compositions are so inspiring!

I think that his book combined with your DVDs will really help me to develop what I want.

Very Happy

Peace!

Unfortunately I don't have any videos or CDs recorded...

I chipped in here because for some silly reason i dont like to see posts get ignored.Lucky for us that Brett reads these boards and replys(unlike other big names!)
please be less patronising by underlining words it wasnt needed

Smile

As for websites try Myspace, easy enough to do and i think a few members here have websites there with streaming tunes(even my 14 year old daughter has a myspace page)

Myspace is fine to a point but tbh a basic webpage is cheap enough to sort if you know someone. Looking to get mine up later in the year but at least myspace gets your music heard...

I wouldnt normaly touch myspace with a barge pole but have noticed a lot of my musical peers and friends have sites there now.So i might whip up a quick site myself to mirror my pro made one i have had for years.

I used to have a an onlinerock account but the problem was their server was very SLOW.The online webpage designer was good enough to make very good layouts and easy to add tunes/vids when needed

My webdesigner/site manager is now Andy Gavin
www.andygavin.com

He created an easy on the eye site for me thats also easy to add songs and vids when i feel the need too
