Here's an old treat - Guthrie giving a lesson on sweep picking on Lick Library. I gather many of you have already seen this but it's a first for me and I don't remember seeing it here, so I'm posting for you guys to see and learn. Guthrie isn't known for sweeping and he doesn't use it a whole lot, but he's a master at the technique like he's a master at so many other techniques and uses it in a judicious manner to embellish a phrase. Personally, I'm not a fan of the sound and the typical phrasing that sweeping produces, but I do think it's an important technique and a type of vocabulary a well-rounded player should master and incorporate in his/her playing.
