Great videos - thanks alot Mark.
I saw Guthrie at Music Live last year, and he really is that good.
For me the most interesting video is the third one down, which contains a quote I wish every "guitar-shop-speed-freak" would hear and absorb:
"Once your technique's up to speed with your thinking, then it's your brain that needs practise...."
What a great sentance. Ironically, I would imagine quite a few shredders would never imagine Guthrie to come out with such a phrase. It's also good to see that despite being a complete speed-monster when he wants to be, he keeps this line of thought and recognises that "circus-tricks" are just that! Good work Guthrie.....

Yeah, but as long as the Mac is around, I'll never buy a PC for myself. Someone will make copies of the clips for me. _________________ Ed Yoon

What a great statement! Wish the guys on the Petrucci Forum and other speed freak shred forums would take heed. _________________ Ed Yoon

Only joking anyway mate
I heard that Macs are much better, never got round to getting one though.
I was up in Birmingham too. Went up on the sunday, Guthrie wasn't feeling too well, a bit hungover from the night before,
Still pulled off an entertaining show though. |

I really wanted to go to this music show, but it was just too damn expensive to go. A couple of my mates were demonstrating on one of the guitar magazine stands (can't remember which one) their names are Martin and Barry in case anybody spoke to them.
Me and a mate teach in the same place as them, and were hoping to come up to Birmingham and invite ourselves to the hotel bar afterwards! I couldn't turn down work on sunday though as that would have put me in the shit.
I'm really pissed off about it! GRRR.
Anyway, about to check out those vids, cheers for posting them. |

Yeah, I know you're kidding.
I think it depends on the applications. For graphics and music and things like that, Macs have a better track record and are more intuitive to use. For number-crunching and business applications, the PC just has so much more software available. I'm just used to the Macs and its interface. I know Guthrie got a new G4 PowerBook recently and has been loading it up with all kinds of music software. Can't wait to hear the results! _________________ Ed Yoon

Checked out all the vids. Kind of murky audio and video quality but really cool, nontheless. Guthrie seems very comfortable with that Suhr. Man, he really does sound like he's "improved". Guthrie had told me that the Suhr is so precise that it really forced him to improve his technique and his playing overall! That is one really fast guitar but is still very toneful. His speed and overall dexterity is getting outright ridiculous now. _________________ Ed Yoon

Hi, this is my first post.
There's some really good "monsters" on that forum, but I'm not enjoying it anymore. Plus, Guthrie is my favorite guitarrist at the time.
How can I watch those videos?!?! |
