I finallly got around to listening to the new GnR album.
It's odd, sounds a bit like a dreamtheater album in places, if they had a better singer.
What I forgot was that Guthries' pal Ron Thal would be all over the album. He's credited as lead guitar on every track and there are some great solos by him.
So, how long til guthrie gets picked up by some huge rock band and gets to contribute to a massive global album? |

I had this thought the other day....
I believe 99% of the lead work on Chinese Democracy is played by either Buckethead or Bumblefoot. Given that Buckethead hasn't been in the band for a few years, and his playing style is pretty insane, who's gonna pull off his parts when GnR hit the road next year?
Then I had the obvious thought....Bumblefoot should rope in his mate Guthrie to do the tour
That would be pretty cool, no?
Edit: I forgot to add....I really dig the album. I can see why it's being slammed by most GnR fans as it sounds nothing like Appetite or UYI1/2, and there's no hint of Slash-style guitar, but Buckethead and Bumblefoot do an amazing job on it. I think if it's treated as it's own record, and not 'the next GnR album', it's a pretty fine effort. |

NO! Axle's ego could not withstand the combined tallent of Ron and Guthrie. Adding Mr Govan to the equation would only push Axle further up his own bottom. I could see Guthrie and Ron having a whale on stage though. |

Yea, but instead of it killing the guitar, it kills the microphone in the lead singers hand so we can hear him better |

Bumblefoot, only plays I think 2 or 3 solos, he's mainly playing rhythm Guitar.
Buckethead plays the solos on 95% of the tracks and playes rhythm on everyone..... But he left the band in 2003 so how long have thses tracks been sitting around!!
Anyway enough of my whining.... Guthrie RULES!!! _________________ www.myspace.com/bifteckmusic |
