Whereabouts in CA are you? Tone Merchants near Anaheim should have a good variety of Cornford amps in stock.

And in the meantime, there are lots of clips at www.cornfordamps.com and worldwide dealer list. Happy hunting! |

i've tried the hurricane and the hellcat.
i'm totally in love with the hurricane. really sweet and (apart from switching options) versatile.
the hellcat was tougher than me. warm, organic marshally tones, but not an amp that played itself (i.e didn't make me sound like guthrie).
i was actually on my way to the music shop to close a deal on a hurricane, just to realize it had been sold. then i got to try the suhr badger which is an equally sweet sounding amp, but more versatile. almost pulled the trigger before i realized i couldn't afford buying two different boutiqe heads (i needed something bigger as well) and got me self an egnater mod50
now, it seems like the badger 30w is a must have
did i just hijack the thread?

No, I think you introduced an interesting counterpoint, do go on _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

well, i asked ed if it was smart of me to get the badger 18w as my more or less only amp, and he actually talked me out of it. that's really cool of him, because i WAS going to order one (in tweed ). compared to the cornford hurricane, it has a little less headroom i believe.
but i really couldn't wait for the 30w badger, and i knew there might be some heavy metal coming my way . . .
i guess that ed is 1) an honest and cool guy; 2) can afford to not sell the 18w to me, since he know i'll be back anyway as soon as possible.
but the cornford roadhouse series seems EXTREMELY interesting, and somewhat affordable as well (so does the egnater rebel [i wonder what the suhr camp feel about that one]).
btw, one of the best sounding vintage style, low to mid gain amps i've tried recently was the elmwood stinger. great warm sound and very cool features

I'm more or less central CA. I'm surprised there's no dealer in San Francisco. Maybe someday.
All the way to the LA area is quite the drive...like driving to another state if I was in the east. _________________ "...these go to eleven!!..." |

At those rates it's probably cheaper to buy from the uk and ship to the states... wow the current economic climate has turned the world on it's head... is there goingt o be a review of the album price too?
In todays climate £1125 = $1683...
I appreciate if they've been shipped there'll be those costs to add on any new buy and import tax...
Also any amps imported shouldn't be sold at a loss... weird _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"
