Andy had posted the following clip on another thread here but I'll post it here again. The tune is called 'Chelmsford' and it's a tribute by Andy to Guthrie. It's no surprise that Guthrie is one of Andy's top few favorite players.

And here's a pic of the two monstas together at NAMM.

Anyone ever hear of Shane Theriot? He's a great player who adds a lot of feeling into his playing, its a very southern jazz fusion rock bluesy mix that never gets old. He's got some great licks that aren't too hard to learn-- you should deff check him out if you haven't (itunes?) _________________ JDiggins |

Other than Guthrie would have to be...
Paul Gilbert
John Petrucci in Dream Theater!
Marty Friedman check out his new album by the way, it's full of Asian sounding scales and it has a real uplifting vibe to it! I recommend it.
Allan Holdsworth
Joe Satriani
Vai
Yngwie
A little of Frank Gambale!
Mines fairly boring compared to some people! But I'm always looking for new music. Erotic cakes is a great album but i find lots of virtuoso music is very bland to me and it sounds like they haven't put much overall thought into the songs... I've recently been listening to Andy Timmons which i am getting into and also OHM: with Chris Poland, Jazz/Fusion. Anyone else listen to OHM: ? |

Allan Holdsworth
Scott Henderson
Steve Hillage
Jimmy Herring
David Gilmour
That Hendrix fella
Big mention to Ed Wynne of Ozric Tentacles. Unique and very inventive player. Anyone vaguely interested in psychedelic guitar should be listening to him _________________ http://www.myspace.com/orpheus73 |

Beautiful piece. I've just given it a few consecutive listens, and it's top-class. It reminds me slightly (in a very good way) of John Petrucci's Wishful Thinking.....'majestic', perhaps?
Good work Andy, great tones too. I'll be sure to pick up a copy of the album when it comes out. |

Derek Trucks
Larry Carlton
I recently discovered swedish fusion guitarist Johan Randén and he´s totaly amazing! I think his playing should go down realy well with Guthrie fans. Flawless technique, great tone, great phrasing and versatility. Here are some clips. There are a bunch more if you do a search. He´s like 22 or something, a freaking monster. Does anyone know what level Govan was at that age?
