Here are some pics of Guthrie in action with the Jon Finn Group at the Berklee College of Music cafe stage on July 25, 2009. This is the gig where Guthrie and I arrived at Berklee 15 minutes before the start of the clinic and Guthrie didn't get a chance to have any rehearsal time with Jon's group. Still, they played a fabulous memorable set.

These pics are courtesy of Berklee alumnus, proprietor of a sound design company and big Guthrie fan, Ryan McBride. Guthrie and I can't thank Ryan enough for organizing the event at Berklee and making our brief stay in Boston a truly enjoyable one. We want to get back to Boston and Berklee as soon as we can. It's a great town and the vibe of the school was really cool as well. _________________ Ed Yoon

Thanks for sharing Ed. Just wondering, when you guys were walking around Boston was there anyone that recognized him or thought they might have by looking closely..? Just curious. _________________ GG #9610

Highly doubt that could happen right outside Fenway Park after a Sox game! Seriously, the market for instrumental guitar music is pretty small. Guthrie and I also walked around south Manhattan quite a bit when we were in NYC. It was only when we wandered into a Guitar Center that some guys noticed Guthrie. Of course, they were quite awestruck. _________________ Ed Yoon

Will go off a bit off tangent for a few pics from the first "gig" of the tour at Raleigh Music Academy in Raleigh, NC - July 18. The first on-stage appearance of Guthrie together with Andy Wood. They didn't really get to do too much with a backing band that both had met for the first time only a few days earlier, but there were some amazing moments, including Guthrie and Andy doing a duet version of Guthrie's 'Rhode Island Shred' and trading solos as well as playing harmonized melody lines at breakneck speeds.

Great pics, Ed! Thanks for sharing!
Would have loved to see the Rhode Island Shred peformance of A Wood and Guthrie. Andy's album is great. I got it last week from IA at the Freak Guitar Camp. (Guthrie was also there for 1 day ) |
