Man, I have that first tapping lick down except for those 6 notes you have to tap with your left hand. When I do them they seem to make no sound what-so-ever! And +1 on the last tapping lick being easier.

I don't know about you guys,
but this version is really great:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPy8gAcJeRM&feature=related

It's a dude playing the whole piece on Xylophone,
the only downpart is that the audio-compression is really too present.

I myself am working my way through the piece,
funny enough it's not the tapping or fast stuff that kills me,
but that little piece at the beginning with the dual picking.

I've been trying the slippery lick every day for about a year, starting to get the hang of it. But on a high action guitar I can't quite do it yet, like my 335. Can't quite tap hard enough. I've never actually tried on my ibanez, cos that would be cheating. Shocked

I did actually play WST at a test at my school (I'm in a music class), and I can't say I nailed it but I got nice grade at that course. Very Happy

Nice one.

Like I say I have a 335 which is hard to play it on. My strat is easier even with gauge 11 strings, but it only has 21 frets! Arrrghh! The slippery lick requires 22! I need to get a guitar which combines 22 frets with reasonable ease of playing, but not as easy as Ibanez RGs etc. I'm thinking Suhr if I get rich enough. I've tried lowering the action of the 335 but somehow it didn't help, I guess it's a guitar for slower blues solos and it just says no to fast tapping/shredding. But then again, I can play Sevens on it! :S Bamboozled.

I think putting the 335 through distortion I can possibly pull off the slippery lick. I'm not one for uploading lots of videos of me playing onto youtube, but I might get started soon. I also have a Line6 guitar modeller and an Ibanez RG. I'd prefer one with a better sound though.

I'm getting ok at the slippery lick, but because I've focused on that, I've not yet learned the other fast bits, the one at the end in particular. Also I can't play the slapping bit at the start properly, even though I'm able to play slap guitar :S double bamboozled
