I feel ya mate! This has always been one of my favourite bluesjamtracks solos. It contains loads of lick which most of us would give anything to learn. I've tried learning it but only got as far as the first few licks |

Please, call me Levi
I just enjoy transcribing, so i guess iv just built it up over time, if it makes you feel any better, i fail HARD at aural and transcribing class at uni! I just have a good memory, i hear a series of notes im very good at transcribing rhythms so all i have to do is play the notes, and thats gradualy becoming second nature because im doing so much
The main part that people fall down on is writing out the rhythm, tabs have no rhythm so people dont bother with it, the best thing you can do is take something REALLY simple like a Shadows song or something like that and give it a bash
Also READ ALOT OF TRANSCRIPTIONS! when i was learning to play (i was self taught) i had a HUGE collection of tab books, id put on my favourite CD get out the tab book and read along, that really helped me getting used to seeing what the rhythms i heard looked like
Then i did 5 years of classical training, reading full scores, classical music, film music etc.
If you want to learn to transcribe, you have to enjoy it!
hope theres something in there that will help you |

yeah i am the same my ears are way to sensitive though they get distracted by little sounds in combination, it comes from being a very retentive producer.
i am (semi) classically trained as well and can notate most instruments reasonably well but distorted guitar seem to have an effect on me ....certain techniques just make me go....that's not something you can play on a guitar or that's not even a note. its only after i see it written and play it that i understand it i'm so grateful to great notations and tabs because one good one opens my mind to new phrasing possibilities.
peace
