No pedal-amp combination will exactly duplicate that of a stand-alone tube amp, but Guthrie seems quite happy with the combination of the Suhr Riot and a Fender-style clean amp when there's no Cornford around. Smile

Hmm I thought about buying one of those 2 suhr pedals
But my problem is that there isn't a way to hear them out
in my country. But I'm still thinking of ordering one and
hope I chose a good one. My indecision is one of the suhr pedals
or a bk butler. Do you think one of the suhr shiba can get the
sweet violin sound of Eric? and yeah I'm aware it's not a fuzz
but the BK butler as eric said is the pedal who gives him that sound.

I dont buy into the "pedal that create the violin tone"

the best way to replicate a violin on guitar is the articulation more than the tone (obviously the main thing is remove the attack)

To do this well i use a volume pedal and ducked delay

I cant recommend the shiba enough

Hey Ed, are there any clips of Guthrie playing through the Riot and a Fender?

MissMisstreater, could you do some clips please?

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I'm currently on the hunt for an OD pedal as well, am looking for something fairly transparent...smooth...responds well to volume control + pick attack...I'm playing through a Peavey Mini Colossal which is set clean because for some reason, the overdrive sounds pretty nasty (in a bad way). I have been recommended the Xotic BB Preamp and am looking at that - I liked the sound Andy Timmons was getting from his demo but I've read that it doesn't sound that great at low volumes

Thanks Laughing

Kinda predictable but I'm thinking 'Shiba Drive'.

No clips of Guthrie playing the Riot through a Fender amp. I heard him play with such a setup during a rehearsal at Berklee, but that's about it. Sounded great. Riot works and sounds best with a clean amp/channel, not with an amp/channel that's already breaking up or in overdrive/distorted mode.

Guthrie hasn't really bonded with the Shiba. I think he finds it too smooth with too much low-midrange emphasis (hump) for what he's trying to get out of an overdrive. He's used the Shiba with his Taylor acoustic to get a Dobro type of sound for some Dizzee Rascal songs. Smile

How well does the Riot clean up? Does it change the amp's character?

What do you think of the Xotic AC Booster?

Lovin' it, watching Waves right now Very Happy

And the funk strumming part! Very Happy Very Happy

Anyway the Riot sounds good (duh Guthrie's playin' through the thing haha). I wasn't too sure about it cause most of the demos on YT were all super high gain (with possibly the exception of Andy Wood's demo)...but after watching this...hmmmm....still....$285AUD....

Oh and sorry itaileo...for hijacking lol

and I'm feeling the same as you are.
99% of the youtube review of the riot are too high gain (usually metal)
