Dave at Red Bear is awesome.. I've been experimenting with the Big Jazzers, one Med ('extra medium' as Steven Wright would say) and one Hvy both black with no bevel. The material is exceptional..not matte like the Jazz III XLs but polished and sounds absolutely balanced...the Dunlops have a touch more friction coming off the strings and the highs are a little flat compared to the Red Bears but I'm sold on the exact shape of the XLs. I noticed that the Big Jazzers are maybe like 1mm shorter from tip to heel than the XLs so the sides of the Red Bears wind up being a tiny bit more rounded. Dave's gonna design one pick that I can order with the Dunlop's exact shape and one in the Tuff Tone material as well...I'm definitely excited to get these bad boys
Yes, he is using the beveled picks. He feels that they give him a fatter sound with more surface of the pick hitting the strings than the non-beveled ones. The non-beveled ones on the Big Jazzer will provide more speed but he's willing to sacrifice that for a fatter sound. Well, it's not like he needs more speed. _________________ Ed Yoon
