Hey, just wondering what pickups he uses in the Charvel guitars and what he used to use in Suhr guitars? Judging by the amount of those weird noises he can get out of those guitars, they must by some very sensitive high output pickus, right? |

The pickups in the Charvel are new designs by Michael Frank-Braun at Fender. He also designed the single-coil pickups in Eric Johnson's Fender Signature Strat. The pickups in the Suhrs he used were the SSH+ in the bridge, ML single-coil in the middle, and the SSV in the neck.
Guthrie is quite happy with the new Fender pickups. I think the bridge humbucker is slightly less in output than the SSH+ but I'm not sure. The output should be roughly the same - somewhat hotter than the vintage PAF-style but certainly less than metal-style Deathbucker pickups. For a rough reference, the output is comparable to that of the Duncan JB but with less mids and with more clarity.
The middle single-coil is only used for the in-between sounds to be combined with the split humbuckers. It's never used alone. In the middle setting on the 5-way selector, it gets the outer coils of the two humbuckers - which gets a more jangly type of single-coil sound. The neck humbucker is pretty much like a vintage PAF (equivalent of Duncan '59).
Guthrie did away with the push-pull on the tone pot to split the neck humbucker that he had on the Suhr Sig as he never used it. The same thing with the "Blower" switch as he now uses the volume pedal in front of the amp to control the amount of gain going into it. So it's a pretty simple and straightforward setup he has on the Charvel now.
1 - Bridge humbucker
2 - Inside coil of bridge HB and middle single-coil
3 - Outside coils of both humbuckers
4 - Outside coil of neck HB and middle single-coil
5 - Neck humbucker _________________ Ed Yoon

He uses the Shaun Baxter Student Set.
Nobody at the ACM even noticed and life goes on....
I'm going to kick fuck out of some of your friends.
Cyberbullying me for 10 years from 3 different continents.
If you think your fame and me being an ex student of yours is allowing them to walk away from that, no fucking chance.
This is what I look like, so you can look out for me at the next guitar show:

I don't understand who you are intending to threaten. Could you be clearer as to who bullied you and who you're going to assault.

It is my business, I'm a moderator of this forum and I've already spoken to your ISP about your behaviour.
Previously, I deleted your tirades, but you've crossed a line.
I have screen shots of your posts, records of the times and IP addresses used to post from your Fretpicker and Stephen Brown accounts. Someone else can determine if it's a misunderstanding. _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

Leave me and my family alone.
We will not be attending any guitar shows, concerts and certainly will not be buying any more guitar equipment. |
