Does anybody know which Tubescreamer sounds better, the Robert Keeley Mod or the Maxon Mod? or go for bust and get the Kar Krash already?

Are you talking about the Analog Man Maxon OD-9 Silver Mod? I have heard a customer's Keely Mod but we don't carry that here. The Keely one sure had a lot of bottom end. The Kar Krash doesn't sound anything like either.

The Tube Screamer heritage of pedals all have a midrange hump and tend to lose some highs and lows. Some people like that and some people hate it. I know that Guthrie isn't a fan of the Tube Screamer variety of pedals and prefers a more natural sounding overdrive that doesn't have humped mids.

Guthrie seems to be digging the AM OD-9 Silver Mod at the moment but he'll be trying out the Kar Krash pretty soon. He needs to try stuff out at a Bassment gig to form an opinion on all the goodies.

Ed, how would you describe the bottom end of the Keeley TS9 Mod you heard vs. the Analog Man Maxon silver OD9?

To my ears, the Keely one sounded a little boomy on the bass side. The AM mod sounded better balanced and a little smoother on top.
