Since Guthrie's main agenda for his January visit to LA is to record Asia's new album, he'll only be making token appearances at TM for the Suhr-sponsored concerts at TM during NAMM. Guthrie will be playing solo for about 25~30 minutes on Jan 19 and 20. Guthrie's not sure if he'll play to backing tracks or just solo or with a Boomerang. Doesn't matter - watching Guthrie play will be all that matters to some people.

Jan 19, 2006, Thu – 7:30PM

Tomo Fujita (solo and backing tracks)
Greg Howe (featuring Joel Taylor on drums and Jon Reshard on bass)
Al Estrada (instrumental band)
Guthrie Govan (solo)

Jan 20, 2006, Fri – 7:30PM

Al Estrada (VH tribute band)
Nick Sterling (his trio)
Guthrie Govan (solo)
Greg Howe (featuring Joel Taylor on drums and Jon Reshard on bass)

With special guests (TBA)

Jan 21, 2006, Sat – 7:30PM

Tomo Fujita (solo and backing tracks)
Al Estrada (instrumental trio)
Nick Sterling (his trio)
Greg Howe (featuring Joel Taylor on drums and Jon Reshard on bass)

Jan 22, 2006, Sun – 8:00PM

Doug Nofsinger’s Band - UNIT 7 (jazz/fusion trio)
Joel Hoekstra (featuring Ric Fierabracci on bass, Joel Rosenblatt on drums, Walter Fischbacker on keys)

Greg Howe is the main featured guy for 2006 at TM and Guthrie and the rest of the guys will play more of a supporting role this time around. Reb Beach had to back out due to some new projects that have come up so he wont' be able to attend NAMM at all.

Guthrie will play the Cornford bash featuring Richie Kotzen on Jan 21, Sat at the Malibu Inn, from what I understand. That should be a killer gig as well. Besides Richie and Guthrie, Rob Balducci's band will perform there as well and wrap it up with a killer jam session. Wish I could see this one as well...

Oh man. I would buy tickets for every night. Seeing Guthrie, Tomo!!, Greg and Nick would be a dream. If I lived in Cal. I would be there for sure. I love those players.

Ahhh, I forgot to mention on this forum. Guthrie can't make it this time around because of conflict of schedule with the Asia recording sessions and rehearsals. Guthrie's been in LA for a few weeks now and the main agenda for this trip is the new Asia album. So Guthrie can't do his sets this time around. He'll be in LA until the album is done that may be another several weeks.

Please, please, Ed, put out another DVD this year. The ones from last year were awesome...

Do you think you could put out the whole show/s?

It will take some time to sift through the footage and edit, but I'm sure we'll have a killer DVD available soon enough!

Don´t, please!!! I mean, I would much rather have a DVD per artist than sort a single medley DVD. For example, I think it would be awesome to have a Tomo DVD, a Howe DVD, a Marcello DVD. I would definitely buy all of them and probably enjoy them much better than a compilation... It´s a perfect opportunity for those who didn´t attend NAMM to feel like we didn´t miss as much.

Is there any oportunity you would do something like that?

If any are interested, I do a few websites for some related musicians and their crew. I do one for drummer Chris Slade and a seperate one for his drumtech. On his drumtechs site I have posted a couple Guthrie photos, one is a great pick of Guthrie jamming with Dweezil Zappa.
