Thought I'd sit down and work at least the intro for this great, spikey tune, but I'm finding the right notes are totally evading me! I listen, I work it out, but when I play along, I seem to be semitones out here and there. It's just the first 14sec and I'm getting really frustrated! Can anybody help me out before I bite my arms off in frustrations? This is what I have so far and I'n sure it's got many errors in it. Can anybody help-please?

Up to where you have is something like:

D--------------------------------------1-------------------------
A----7-6-5----------8-----5--------------------------------------
E--0--------8-7-6------4----0--0--x-----1----1----------------

D--------------------------------------------------------------------
A-----7-6-5--8-7-6------------7------8---------------------------
E--0------------------6-5-4-------6------5------------------------

I'll work our more if you want me to?

Oh you're a star! Just up to 14 sec (when the riff is just about to start again) would be lovely!

Cheers,

BBB

E------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------
G---7------5------------------------------
D----------------------8-------------------
A-------7------6--5------------------------
E---------------------------6--5--4--0-----

Guys, i'm having trouble with this one, my meagre talents are giving me mental block...where the feel changes on 55 seconds, and GG launches into that meandering solo, what are the chords he's playing over. I'll be damned if I can work them out. Embarassed

I was hoping to work it out in order to analyse his approach to the solo and perhaps experiment myself around those changes.

Thanks

Hi,

the chord prog is something like:

E------3---------4-------------------2----------
B------3---------4---------5---------2----------
G------5---------6---------5---------4----------
D------5---------6-------------------4----------
A---------------------------5--------------------
E-------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps you.

Heh! was just about to post the same chords Smile...

Checking on the the Tone Merchants DVD Mr Govan ( and as Mu says ) looks to be playing:

G#maj7#11: 4-x-5-5-3-3

Amaj7#11: 5-x-6-6-4-4

Dm9: x-5-3-5-5-x or 3-5-3-5-5-x ( Dm9 vibe but looks as if GG is barre-ing bring in that G on the bass)

Gmaj7#11: 3-x-4-4-2-2

Yep, that tone merchants DVD makes life a lot easier when trying to figure this stuff out Very Happy

Markmcg - I wasn't too sure about some of the bass notes, it looks like GG is playing them but he may just be muting the strings for his rapid strumming??

Yeah I agree, looking at his strumming hand looks like he's concentrating on the top 4 strings to begin with before going for the fast strum, makes sense if playing the chord with a touch more gain Smile.
