Luke is one of my faves!
He has amazing feel, great natural timing with superb note choice, but he has a horrible tone to my ears (EMG's yuk) and does get a bit messy on the over cooked shred stuff when he's off his nut! It's Lukes 'I don't give a Flying F#ck' attitude that I love. I can't think of a player that looks more comfortable and relaxed on stage when he's doing his stuff. I loved his 'El Grupo' stuff, pure quality |

Exactly how I'd sum up Lukather... he's got some lovely soloing ideas, and I really admire his musicality, but I don't like that processed, mushy tone or the music he's involved with. It's a bit like that with Eric Johnson, too, although I'm more positive about him. I absolutely adore EJ's playing and his live tone, but I wish he'd switch off the studio effects and stop singing
