I'm going to be in London in late May this year, and was considering seeing Guthrie at the Bassment. But, will he be on tour on 24 May 2007? I don't want to make plans to see him if he won't even be in the country. Thanks!

Pretty easy to find, if you're coming from Cambridge exit the M11 at Harlow follow the A414 all the way to Chelmsford. After Hylands Park at Writtle turn left at the next roundabout, short way to next roundabout left again. Follow this road A138, through 2 set of lights to major intersection ( parkway) DONT TAKE FIRST RIGHT just go over the 1st set of lights on right hand side of the two lanes and into right hand filter lane, follow signs for Railway and West End. Through one set of lights and Well Street is next on left opposite Bus Station. The Bassment is at the top of the road on the right. Plenty of parking around. Just turn left and there's a free car park to your right.

Hope that helps.................

Mike M:
Asked the man last night, if he would be here for 24th May.
Well, the answer is he is not 100% sure. He has some things booked for earlier in May, but is expecting to be back for 24th......
So he said to tell you he is 90% sure....
Hope that helps. I will, of course, keep you updated. Smile

Another great night, last night, no keyboards tho'.

Thanks so much, fuzzyduck! Thanks for remembering; I'll plan on going there then. Since you go there regularly, is it pretty easy to meet Guthrie and the band after the show?

Blimey,no worries there. The Bassment is just as it says, an old basement, so when the band set up they take up a bit of the floor space. Some rickety tables and chairs and if you're lucky to get one of these then the band are 'IN YOUR FACE'. At the break most of the band will head off in the direction of the bar! So yup there's plenty of time to chat, get things signed, look at Guthries set up of his pedal train etc

Okay you have how ever many hundred square miles of unspoilt land varying from mountain ranges, plains to beaches.. a colourful and recent history even and no over crowding and we'll have .. well in Chelmsford or any of the South East of England, for that matter, we'll have flat terrain, chavs, greed, overcrowding on everything and we'll pay through the nose for the "privilege"... grass is always greener on the other side me thinks Wink
