Thats good to hear - how long did it take ?

Before I get flamed by anyone I'd like to say I don't doubt Suhr's pedigree to make instruments of the highest quality. There's a reason top class players like Guthrie continue to chose them to produce music.

However, with such a pedigree comes an expectation. Expectation that one of their instruments will perform at the highest level from day one. I don't have the luxury of a guitar tech to set up my guitars before every rehearsal or gig which is why I aim high and buy quality instruments that will perform to a high standard for a working musician, which probably makes up a significant percentage of Suhr's customer base.

To take delivery of such an instrument and to discover it doesn't stay in tune and that several weeks on the only suggestion I've had is to try a bit of pencil lead in the nut slots with no follow up, from Suhr or my UK dealer, isn't what I'd expected and I'm bitterly disappointed to have to retire it.

Hi Benson,

I'll check with Peach Guitars on what's going on. I suggested to John Priest there that it could be the Tremol-No that's causing the problem as if that's only slightly out of adjustment, it'll cause the trem to not work properly and thus cause tuning issues. I spent some time with a GG model at the shop that wasn't finished with the final set-up and found the Tremol-No not to my liking as it made the trem action feel weird and rather clunky. Then I tried it later when it got the final set-up and QC check and all of a sudden it felt like the Tremol-No wasn't there.

We've shipped over three dozen GG's to date (with another several dozen on order) and we haven't had any other reports of tuning issues. Guthrie himself has stated that it doesn't stay in tune like his Floyd-equipped Modern but he has learned to get around it. Still, the problem you have does sound like one-in-several-hundred type of issue (as we ship nearly 150 guitars per month) that does pop up every now and then. I'll follow up with John Priest on Monday. Is there a tech that John has at his shop or nearby where you are who can look at it?

Thanks,

Ed,

John at Peach has suggested I should follow this up with you directly, I don't have any details about their techs but they're a fair distance away and it would involve being shipped to them, which I'm nervous of.

The best guy round here who's semi local is Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience. They're fully pleck'd too but still a couple of hours drive to drop it in to them.

Might be wise to pick this up offline, please pm me if you don't have my email address.

Cheers,
Tony
