I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've noticed an increasing amount of tension which I find is really hinders my playing ability. I have gone backwards over the last year rather than achieve any vertical growth.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or if anyone knows of any way to eliminate this tension from your playing.

Cheers,

Justin

BREATH. Stand infront of the mirror and take a deep breath in. If you see your shoulders moving you're doing it wrong. Breath with your BELLY not your chest.

99% of tension problems have been fixed with students this way.... so many of us don't breath when we try and play something hard. Very Happy

Laughing I couldn't work out if it was tension in the strings, the fingers, the wrist, the elbow or the music...

you know: "help I'm Derek Bailey!!" or some such.. Wink

Thanks for the tips.

I looked at the guitar principles site and some articles by Jamie Andreas and already I have identified some problems including my breathing, posture and left hand thumb placement.
