i'm new to this forum (first post!). i just found out about this clinic at my local music store in coventry whiere i live.
i just got myself a ticket
i've met Guthrie once before at MusicLive! last year - frankly i think he got a little bored of me telling him how amazing he was. my girlfriend said i looked stupidly star-struck. I was! i always get star-struck when i meet someone famous. even if they're barely famous. it's embarrassing really, but i can't help it. i wouldn't stop telling richie kotzen that he was amazing for, like, 5 mins straight and he finally gave me a polite smile and started talking to the girl behind me. i guess i must've been pretty boring to talk to really, so its fair enough.
Nexus is a christian academy - is Guthrie a Christian, or do they just book good musicians, as opposed to christian musicians?
anyway, if any of you would like to say hi, i'll be the fat indian with the long hair (i look like my avatar <---) |

Interesting question, at Nexus the emphasis is on God but it's a fact that there aren't a whole lot of great christian musicians in the limelight.
We are booking excellent musicians regardless of what their religious views are as they're an inspiration to our students in many different aspects of their lives. This also has a positive effect on the acadamy as it raises the profile across the country, in the media (for the Brett Garsed clinic we got an ad in Guitar techniques) and strengthens relationships with other organisations |

I''ll be there with a few people who wouldn't miss Guthrie for the world!
swampthang - I'm certainly not Christian, but I do appreciate the fact that there is a local school getting hold of *top* class musicians and holding extremely affordable clinics. Have you considered Paul Bielatowicz. I believe that he's Christian and he's certainly a top class musician! Obviously he's quite busy with the Carl Palmer Band and Guitar Techniques/Guitarist etc. but it might be worth a go if the idea comes up.
(not that I know anything about organising clinics or running a music college, but thought you might like the input, ignore me if not!) |
