World authorities have agreed that on average it's about 1.02m above sea level for the high E and 1.12m the low E for the bridge pickup and 1.08m at the neck for high E.

When he plays at the Bassment the pickup height is around -2.34m to the low E on the bridge and -2.28m to low E on the neck pickup.

At times, playing with Asia, the pickup height has varied greatly depending on venues without any perceivable variation in tone, certainly not detectable against the regional variation in electric current... meteorological variations or audience interaction (AKA cheering) or microscopic variations in the layer of "snake oil" applied to each string by the 6 man pit team of crack roadies (crack as in expert, although I imagine there are magazines on the top shelves called Crack-Roadie).
