Hello Guthrie guys,

Just a heads up for you all with regard to a party we and Andertons Music of Guildford are holding on the 28th of April 2008. It is to mark the official launch of the Cornford Roadhouse range of amps and the 9th birthday of Cornford Amplification.

Guthrie will be headlining the show with all of his Erotic Cakes for a full set of Guthrie'ness, we also should have some special guests turning up to jam at the end and the loverly Anne Marie Helder will be kicking off proceedings with a solo set.

It will be held at a wonderful club called the Boiler-rooms in Guildford Surrey, it only holds 160 so it going to fill up real quick, entrance is free and the link to get yourself on the guest list is http://www.andertons.co.uk/and_coranto/viewnews.cgi?id=EkpuVVVyppBJOoGopU

Thanks for the info, Paul. Good to see you here. Sounds like a lot of fun and congrats on your 9th birthday! Wink You're just one year younger than us folks over at Suhr.

I've made this thread a sticky (finally figured out how to do that!) and copied and pasted this info on the mighty Petrucci Forum as well! Hope you have a great turnout! Very Happy

Hey Ed thanks for the glue so to speak Wink

Well a Cakes show doesnt come along to often, and a free one just to fans press and players! well Cool its such a shame you and John are so far away,, having said that flight are real cheap in April Wink

So guys, everyone wants a live Cakes show, well we cannot do much more than offer you one for free, we chose Guildford, 1 because of our wonderful relationship with Andertons (and the fact they have done all of the hard work for the show, thanks guys as always) and 2 it is really easy to get to from all of the major hubs as far as transport goes, London to Guildford on the train, about 30 mins.

Any feedback would be welcome,

PC

Hello, me again, I have just had a couple of PM's and I thought I would share my answers with you all,

Yes it is the full band, Pete on Drums Seth on Bass and Andy on Hammond (worth the ticket price on their own ;o)

Yes it is a full Cakes gig.

Yes the guitar press are going to be there (on mass so it would seem)

And the biggest distance I have traveled as a fan (not working) for a gig, is Whitstable to Glasgow (and back the same night, 2 drivers!) so around 500 miles each way, if Guthrie had been playing I would have driven on to Aberdeen to see it Wink that one is for the guy that said it a shame Guildford is 50 miles away from him. Hey Ed, tell the UK guys how far you have had to drive for shows even the local ones Laughing

Take care,,

Paul

Seriously, I'd use up a sick day or a vacation day to see Guthrie play with Erotic Cakes and spend the night in a cheap hotel nearby. It'll have been worth it. Very Happy

Yeah, I do drive 200 miles roundtrip just in the LA area to see the likes of Landau and Scott Henderson. I see each of them once every 3 months or so. If it was just 50 miles roundtrip and they played the weekend nights, I'd see them at least once every few weeks. I'll find babysitters for the kids and easily drive that far to see the likes of Pat Metheny and Jeff Beck.

Guthrie is worth it, guys! You guys in UK within reasonable distance really have no excuse to miss him. I'm already seeing UK guys on the Petrucci Forum saying they can't make it for one reason or another. I understand there are so many distractions these days that hold you down, but I think you could always make the time if you really wanted to. Wink

Hey Paul, I'd love to make it and visit that side of the pond someday. I'm sure it'll happen soon enough, but we've still got some ways to go to afford such business expenses. I'll email you again soon.

Any plans to tape this show? I know you and I both get bombarded with such questions all the time, Rolling Eyes but we understand why, don't we? Laughing

Hmmm, this is very, very tempting. My only problem would be skipping university classes..but this is Guthrie! Would be my first time seeing him if I do!

I may probably go.

We are working on an official professional live DVD this year, i.e. something approved by Guthrie, so watch this space, it wont be of this show though, it will be at another venue in the Midlands.
