haven't read it. but the guy is a legato monster, and guthrie has acknowledged him, so ... his educational stuff gives a serious impression. but i haven't watched any of his dvd's or read his book.

Darryl definitely has some pretty crazy legato. I believe his book is very lick oriented, like Sheets of Sound, but different.

I could be wrong, however, since I don't have it. I'd be interested in hearing Daryl do some more stuff with a real band, have the one CD and it's hard to get past that part.

Might also try Holdsworth's Video. It's pretty intense, but comes with transcriptions, and his legato is flawless. Very humbling video Very Happy

The January edition of Guitar Techniques magazine has a 'Metal Bootcamp' article that focuses on Legato. Feb's edition will have part 2 of this article, and subsequent months will then cover tapping, alternate picking and sweeping.

definitely might make the purchase on that book.

There are a couple of videos lessons on my youtube channel which are for the development of left hand dexterity and control. They might not sound very "metal" or like Holdsworth, but the exercises serve to develop the same technique:

Thank you very much.

I've had a load of problems with the website. I'm getting it together a bit at a time though. I have them in notation, but I'll make some tab versions and post them on here in few minutes...

edit:
