cool. thanks.

pics by courtesy of ... ?

i've wondered about the wh-3. i use a wh-2 noe and then. love it. and i actually prefer it before the wh-3. but it sucks in bypass mode. might the wh-3 have a better buffer perhaps? just curious if anyone knows -- i'm going for a mad professor auto wha next though ...

good suggestion. great pedal. i've spent some time with the non + version. don't really need the features though, and the footprint is too big for my stripped down board. the micro q is a contender though.

i'd love to have one on a crazy board or for fooling around in the studio though.

Pics are courtesy of a member of the Petrucci Forum who went to see Guthrie last week. Really cool to see what Guthrie has on his pedalboard these days although he did outline the rig in a recent interview. That Pigtronix synth box and Moonphaser seem intriguing. Guthrie does have a fondness for those occasional wacky sounds.

Interesting that Guthrie added the Xotic AC Booster to his rig. I thought he meant the RC Booster (which he also has) in the interview but it's definitely the AC. The AC is definitely a different type of overdrive compared to the usual Tube Screamer types - less midrange hump. It's more like a clean boost that's got more overdrive gain. Still, it doesn't sound or feel compressed - very open sounding.

Also good to see that Guthrie's got the Peterson StroboStomp on the pedalboard as a permanent fixture. The Peterson tuners aren't cheap but they're worth every penny, IMO. I just bought the StroboFlip to have around the house. I'd normally get the guitar tuned up at work with the Peterson strobe tuners that our builders use but decided I needed one at home.

http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=37

It's fairly compact and I can just stow it away in a desk drawer when I'm not using it. The difference it makes is really, I mean - really - noticeable. Other tuner makers brag about accuracy within 1 cent. The Petersons are accurate to within 0.1 cent, which makes them around 10 times more accurate than typical tuners that light up green when you get each string "in tune."

It may not seem like much, but when you consider that your low-E may be 0.5 cents flat and some other strings are 0.3 or 0.6 cents sharp, etc., that won't be as pleasing as the strings being less than 0.2 cents off each other. You tune it up with the Peterson, strum a chord and it just makes you go, "Ahhhh.... that sounds and feels goooooood..." Laughing

I had always wanted one from ages ago but couldn't justify the price or the size of the old ones. These little ones still cost 2~3 times more than your typical Boss and Korg tuners, but they're definitely worth it.

well my 2 best friends have the micro q, and the guyatone.....
the micro Q is definitely better, but at the same time if you want a small board, the guyatone is top

Remember that the more compact Turbo Tuner claims accuracy of +/- .02 cents!

i have one of those. the pedal version. and i really like it. the claims about cents, and the discussion about what's a real strobe tuner, apart -- it's cool as hell. it's as accurate as anything i've used including the peterson. it has a nice housing that doesn't look like some star trek design department leftover. and it's much cheaper than the strobostomp.

peterson has the software versions though (even for iPhone Cool. which is really cool.

but for a pedal board, with limited space (and no tolerance for hideous pedal casings Wink ) ) i'm all for the TT ... for now. i don't think it's better or worse than the peterson pedal though. it's just a different offering. if you just go by the specs, the TT is a Strobostomp killer though. but specs is not the same things as real life performance, so i guess different people have different experiences though.

there's probably a TT vs. SS war going on at some forum ... Laughing
