Hi everybody,
since it is my first post here I'd like to add a quick "Hello"!! I picked up the guitar only a few years ago after quitting sports (am 42 now!), went to guitar lessons in the local music school here. My teacher is very blues-influenced and that's what I learned the past 3 years...Maj7, min7, 7 and so on chords and for impro of course the minor pentatonic... Theorywise I feel that I am better because I read alot of music theory books.
Now I feel a bit stuck in this genre (blues) although I am certainly not very good cause I like a lot of other genres such as jazz, rock, fusion, a bit of metal too and of course I am fully into Guthrie music...solo and with the Aristocrats!
...and now comes my question :
What genres did Guthrie dive into (techniquewise and theory) to be able to play his kind of music?
What do you think are important things to learn to come as close as possible to his playing? Yesssss I know I picked up the guitar too late and will never reach this level of playing but I feel very interested by his stuff and I'd love to learn as much as possible!! Surprised)
Thanks very much for your input!!
