Hi!is there any instructional, book or video that teaches this technique?or anyone can explain it to me?Guthrie also uses that a lot,and he uses thumb and index as i can see.
i am not very sure what finger picking way Guthrie use,
but i think the finger picking method what he use is just very simple as you learn some acoustic song like the intro of "Stairway to Heaven" or Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" which you play with your finger instead of your pick~~~~
i think the benefit of use finger picking is we can control the tone of
every note make it more......juicy XD
and we can use finger to "hook" the String to make it "bin bin don
don" make the tone more colorful and the best is......that is you
control it,where it must appear which note to use....is all on your
control, but it also need practice to master it....... Jeff Beck is also a
finger picking master make can learn some trick from him.....
Or maybe you can learn the alternative method........hybrid picking~~
which Guthrie is also use a lot but i think it also harder to master it
(i'm also in my progress to master it!!)
there has a great instruction video/book which is
"mighty" Brett Garsed 's masterpiece instruction video
<<Rock Fusion >> in that video he demonstrates what hybrid
picking can be use in distortion guitar sound and some good lick
to practice it.............that is must to check out
