No, this isn't an officially sanctioned one. Due to the overwhelming requests on the User Survey, Dave felt he needed to add a place in the Legends section to discuss Jeff Beck and his music.

Jeff Beck has held a place as one of my top 3 faves ever since I first heard Blow By Blow in midst of being a DiMeola freak in the early-80's and the shred-craze of the Yngwie-dominated mid-80's. Jeff Beck helped keep my feet on the ground and that taste, tone, feel, soul, phrasing, ideas, creativity, inventiveness and all those things that have nothing to do with speed and technical proficiency are really what makes a player and the essence of music.

IMHO, Jeff is the one who took on the torch of electric guitar playing from Jimi - always expanding boundaries and taking the playing to new realms and new heights. It's the spirit of Jimi that seems to live on with what Jeff is doing and has done for the past 35 years after Jimi left us. To me, Jeff still represents the epitome of electric guitar playing - the one that guys like Guthrie, Vai, Satch, Howe, Scott H, McLaughlin, Metheny, Clapton, BB King, Santana, and virtually every other great player out there in whatever genre, look up to.

Ooh yeah! The album Blow By Blow was one of my fave listening journeys when I was a teenager.

Talk about haunting melodic phrasing... that's real "shiver up the spine" stuff!!!

Cheers
