Hi everyone!
I'm a 15 year-old guitar freak from Finland.
I discovered Guthrie a while ago and, well, it was like I were shot in the head. I have both of his books and they're just amazing.
There aren't many serious guitarists around here where I live, so they think I'm crazy because I practise almost all the time.... Well that's their problem.
Anyway, I just came to say hi and now, I'm off to practise.

Hey, welcome aboard! You're lucky to discover Guthrie at such a young age. Keep working hard at it and I'm sure you'll be one scary player yourself! Very Happy

Having Guthrie as a musical inspiration at the age of 15 will serve you well for your future in music!

Emulate -> Innovate -> Elevate!

I'm reminded of a famous saying that goes something like this:

"Those that stand on the shoulders of Giants see further than the Giants themselves".

Guthrie is surely a Giant, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you borrowed his shoulders to help you see a bit further...

When I used to teach guitar I would tell my students that Eddie Van Halen was inspired by Eric Clapton, so I would ensure they got a fair does of "The Slow Hand" in their lessons.

As an assignment I would ask them to go and find out who were the players who inspired Clapton. The truly keen students would come back with BB King and Muddy Waters and then want to learn stuff from those "Giants"... I even had one student come back with a hand drawn family tree of sorts (this was before the Internet, so doing research was a particulary ardous task for teenagers)!

Out of interest, I found some interesting info about Clapton at the following link, enjoy!:

Cheers
