for those that dont know Eric taught in guitarist and techniques over here in the Uk.

He also taught at AGM, for those who are unaware, if you think Tommy Emmanuel you're in the right vein of playing.

Eric passed away recently of cancer of the mouth, now I only post this here because Guthrie is involved in a tribute cd that can be bought from Eric's Website, I suggest you all order copies quick as there are only 3000 being made.

I offer this as a place to pay your respects if you knew/heard of him.

Had the pleasure to see Eric perform several times at various Guitar Shows in the UK over the years.

Indeed the one proper time that I met him (over a beer) was in 2001 at Birmingham NEC late on the Saturday afternoon when all the guitar demonstrators (I was demonstrating at that years show for a small UK custom builder Pendell Guitars) downed tools and converged on the Future Music stand to watch a certain Mr Govan shock and amaze....

In my view Eric Roche was the most innately musical and inspiring of the "mega acoustic players" out there........and one of the most inspiring musicians anywhere. Not only that but a very nice bloke, and a great educator.

His live DVD and CD's are all esssential....it is just a shame that we can never see him in the flesh again - an awe inspiring musician

He is sorely missed.

This is indeed very sad news. I had the pleasure to meet Eric and see him perform earlier this year when he opened up for Guthrie on January 19 at Tone Merchants - an unforgettable night. He was very animated and excited about playing despite the health problem. I remember being very inspired and admiring his tenacity to do what he truly loves despite the huge obstacles that he faced. Eric will be sorely missed.

I'm deeply saddened by this news. I had the honor of meeting Eric the same night that Ed mentioned (Jan. 19th of this year); I actually did the sound check for his performance that evening. He was extremely amiable and friendly. I won't forget the very playful tune that he played, and the enjoyment he showed while performing. It was very memorable for me...

I feel privileged to have met him; he surely will be missed.

Oh MY GOD! I studied under him at the ACM & would have pints with him in weatherspoon's.

I'm deeply upset with this news.He was a great player & an even better teacher I SHALL miss him very much.He made me laugh. I even walked out of one of his classes when I didn't understand some theroy. He sat me down & gentaly talked through what I needed to learn.

HE WAS KIND,HE WAS BRILLIENT!

I felt he was a friend,I even talked to him a while ago to go back for more lesson.I asked him if he remembered me on his WEB page, left my number,he phoned me up within ten min's & told me he had the cancer & that
he was on the mend.I said I'd leave it for a year or so & then we could meet up again for some more lesson. He agreed & that was the last time I made contact.
I carn't ..........

I will miss him very much because he taught me so much in applied harmony & theory.

My condolence's to his family & friend's.

God bless,eric.
