Love him or hate him or not get what his whole schtick is all about, but you can't deny the guy's talent and facility on the guitar. I used to be a big fan and still consider myself a fan, but all the extraneous stuff of his that have nothing to do with music and guitar playing wore thin on me after a while. Still, he's always fun to watch on the guitar:

Man what a freaking lunatic...
This video really tested my patience, Ed. Especially those parts with that doll-head... I hoped to see some actual playing, incorporating his weird stuff, but with a nice musical theme. I mean, if that wicked stuff is being used at the right moments it could actually be very cool, but without a good musical theme I think I'd get bored quickly.
Where did you get this video? Or didn't you put it up yourself? |

Still waiting to hear a nice tune of the guy... I know he could probably do it, but apparantly he only wants to do weird stuff... |

Check out several of his newer albums...some really good wholesome stuff...in particular:
Colma (some nice acoustic stuff)
Population Override (jam based w/ keys, bass, drums and guitar)
-population is my favorite album by him...

RD,
Check the following link out. I recommend downloading the Population Override song and the Thantatopsis "Axiology" songs to see a more serious side of Buckethead's playing. I don't know if you get the entire song or just a sample, but it seems it may be the whole song. I have dial-up and own the discs, so I have no need to try.
Either way, it should give you some insight into his more conventional playing. Post your thoughts on it if you would like, I would be interested in hearing them.

I still think his out-of-print Giant Robot NTT album from 1996 is his solo effort. Lots of variety there. For all-out shred, the Cobra Strike II is my favorite - there's some insane playing on that one with lots of extended solos. _________________ Ed Yoon

Giant Robot "NTT" The ONE disc by Buckethead I just can't get my hands on. I have only heard "Hog Bitch Stomp" from that cd.
Do you wanna sell your copy, Ed? I'll give you 75 dollars for your used copy
