After seeing the Ron Thal thread, just thought I'd like to say:
I know a few Intermusic denizens who grace this board have heard him and probably some others here too, but anyone else who hasn't heard/listened to this truly amazing player should check him and his band 'Freak Kitchen' out .

Heh. I like his stuff a lot, though I've only heard his solo stuff.
I nicked most of my sweep shapes from him, in fact. _________________ Mmmm...Sacrelicious. |

Another amazing player! His technique is out of this world but what I'm most amazed by at the moment is his phrasing - it's so musical even when he's going way out. I've only heard his two solo albums but will be getting the Freak Kitchen stuff at some point I'm sure.
Also, who else would record "Detroit Rock City" in the style of Django Reinhardt and Django's "Minor Swing" as a funk tune? And that's without mentioning his takes on "Smoke On The Water" and "La Bamba" - both equally hilarious and mind boggling.

Mattias is a phenomenal player and a really unique person. he has a zany sense of humor. I don't really like much music with singing, but Freak Kitchen is excellent. Mattias is a great singer and songwriter, and I don't see how they aren't huge in the U.S.
Johan is sick!! I can't wait to see him grow and mature and keep developing his already huge skills |

Yup, he's pretty amazing. I just placed the order for the new one as Guthrie recommended it highly as well. Can't wait to listen to it! _________________ Ed Yoon

Hello,
Does anyone know of a UK shop or website where I can buy Mattias Eklundh's solo cds? I think Amazon has run out of them because they keep increasing the expected arrival date.
Thankyou |

He's awesome, though:
Solo albums > Freak Kitchen
In my opinion. |
