|

This new beauty that just arrived at TM from Suhr is identical to Guthrie's #1 except for the regular headstock instead of the reverse (lefty) headstock on his. Absolutely gorgeous and this one just may end up being the eventual GG Signature Model since the reverse headstock really won't be everyone's cup of tea. Here are the pics which really don't do the guitar justice, but you get an idea:
As for the sound and playability, let's just say it makes the photos look mediocre. _________________ Ed Yoon

BTW, Greg Howe played this guitar at the Suhr shop before it was shipped to TM and he was simply blown away by it although he's really more of a one-piece Maple neck kind of a guy. He actually loved all of the Suhrs he tried, but he had a hard time putting this one down. _________________ Ed Yoon

That truely is a beautiful instrument! I was fortunate enough to see a Suhr guitar here in Hawaii from one of Suhr's dealers. The fit and finish looks incredible in person! The maple caps that are used are georgous. Oh, heres a quick question...how do you correctly pronounce "Suhr?" Is it just like "sir?" |

I like the look of all the extra carving at the back of the body for higher register playng, looks really smooth.
How do you think these guitars compare to Tom Andersons then people?? |

Obviously, I'm biased towards the Suhrs, but when I was at TM I considered Anderson to be a supplier and felt that the Suhrs had more meticulous workmanship and that the Suhr pickups were clearly superior - more warmth and character. I had quite a few people tell me that they thought the Anderson pickups were too bright and sterile sounding. But Anderson guitars are great instruments and amongst the very best. John Suhr and Tom Anderson are good friends and friendly competitors. They're different and each has its own vibe and sound about 'em. _________________ Ed Yoon

Owning Suhr and Andersons, theses guitars are same value for me. The workmanship seems equal also, theses two builders give you good advice for ordering your guitar. Peharps Suhr are more vintage and Tom Andersons on the modern side.
If you want a strat or a tele, you can't go wrong with one of theses guitars. |

AWESOME!!!
What are the pros and cons of the reverse headstock??? I'm guessing there would be different string tension/feel, which would translate into a different playing experience???
I kinda like the look of Guthrie's with the reverse headstock...

The reverse headstock would be the "true" GG model since that's exactly what he's playing.
Yes, the string tension is definitely different on the reverse headstock - more tension on the low strings and less on the high strings. Guthrie feels that this is more of a "balanced" tension. The high plain strings would feel a bit slinkier and the low wound strings would feel snappier and punchier. _________________ Ed Yoon
