Your conford site is also completely flash unfortunately, for instance people with bad eyes cannot use your sites, so please normal (simple) html site (maybe??) |
The HTML site will be up next week, for the time being you can have a look at http://www.myspace.com/cornfordrecords we have some clips there,
Take care

Works fine as well on the Safari browser of my Mac at home. Must be the Windows IE at work...
Cool to see all the buzz being generated on the Internet guitar community. This kind of stuff wasn't even thinkable a mere 10 years ago. _________________ Ed Yoon

Yeah I looked around everywhere, Bumbleforum, EJ, Holdsy, the monster, etc, some good responses. Let's hope this "first wave" of orders is just the beginning...

Does anyone know anything about the production of this album? What amps were used, pedals, guitars etc? I can hear the guitar is doubled up alot of the time. The tone on waves is so sweet!

Hi Al,
Waves was straight in to an RK100, and the melody was tracked 4 times, guitars were Suhr single coil 1st track bridge pu 2nd track neck pu, 3rd track suhr with humbuckers bridge pu 4th track neck pu, the great thing is that it sounds like it has effects all over it but it just the way the 4 tracks are working together with the subtly different tones from the guitar and amp,
All of the guitars were rerecorded at Headroom studios in North Hollywood in August 05 and no pedals were used at all, 90% was recorded with the RK100 head clean dirty, the whole thing, there are 2 tracks that are Hellcat and MK50H and the guitars used were the Humbucker Suhr and the single coil Suhr (sorry dont know the model numbers), no effects just guitar and amp i.e. real guitar tones, ohh yes and the cab was a RK4x12 with Vintage 30's running in to 16 ohms.
The pedals / effected tones you will hear are from the original recordings, such as the robot stuff on Cakes whammey pedal stuff on Uncle Skunk, the quacking part in Rhode Island Shred etc., basically all of the slightly non guitar sounding stuff,
The solo on Five's that you can hear on the clips section is from the original demo that Guthrie recorded at home, we decided that the demo version had to be kept as we all thought that it is one of the finest solos ever, that was recorded with Guthries old PRS Custom 24 straight in to a Cornford Harlequin. the other guitar kept from the original recordings is the main guitar on Slippery, that is a early 70's 335 in to a Harlequin.
Rest assured that what you are hearing is Guthrie a guitar and an amp, as organic as it comes, it really does show what real guitar tones are all about, some of the best I have ever heard, plus a loverly advert for the fine work from those ohh so cool guys at Cornford and suhr
Take care

According to Shredizalive in the liner notes there's some cool info from Guthrie explaining why he wrote each tune and a breakdown of amps/guitars/effects used track by track. |

Do you happen to know anything about the mic's, micing technique, outboard (compressors etc) used in the studio? This is all rather interesting to me as I'm studying music production at Leeds College of Music! |

Question about the Wonderful Slippery Thing track - is it a re-recorded version or the same as many of us have had our hands on for a while? |

The main guitar is the 335 old version the rest of the guitars are the newly recorded versions, the only time anyone will have heard this one is on the new album. _________________ GoldFish Don't Bounce. |
