I just picked up my new Johnny A Standard and placed new strings on it. The nut sure looks like bone. I was just at my local guitar shop about 6 months ago and I was shown the difference between plastic and bone nuts. [/img]

Hello
What material do they use for the nut?
Regards
I believe it is bone. A luthier who does extensive Gibson work told me that all of Gibson custom shop guitars are bone.
Alas, not bone...At least on my Johnny A Standard. Having some tuning issues with my bigsby and finally took it in to a luthier...They use corion or something like that. Same as countertops. Anyway, he said even with nut sauce it's a problem with a Bigsby so we are going to swap it out.
