Hey Scott,
I read in a previous thread that you use the bae 1073 preamp. I don't have one, but I use the neve 1073 unison preamp with my UA Apollo and IR's.
How do you like to set your knobs on the BAE? Do you use the eq's at all? I'm a bit lost when it comes to equing with the 1073, but I have noticed just having it in the chain and turning up the red knob seems to make the tone sound a bit better.
My BAE 1073 doesn't have EQ - I don't like to EQ when I'm tracking, only when mixing. I was told to keep the small knob all the way up and turn up the red "click" knob until I have a good level going to my DAW. That seems to sound better than the opposite way. My amp is so loud, two clicks is all I need.
