Hey!

So when you go shark hunting... which kind of harpoon do you use?

Naa in all seriousness, I just wanted to ask you what did you use in that song to go with you on the melody? is that a synth? is it played by you or a keyboard player? It sounds like a harmonica but it is way to fast or complex for someone to just play it in a harmonica, I think.

Anyway I was just listening to the song today and had that question.

Thanks for reading!

It always sounded to me like it was an harmonica. Great playing, might be hard top play that part, but I think I already heard harmonica players that are that good.

That's Pat O'Brien on harmonica, and though he played his ass off on Harpoon, that's a small sample of what he can do. He's also a great blues guitarist and singer. He can play fast lines on guitar and harmonica at the same time, and even harmonize those lines - it's pretty amazing. He plays on the weekends at a club called The First Cabin in Arcadia, CA, just outside LA. I highly recommend anyone who lives in the LA area to go see him play - he's an incredible musician.

Hi Gonzo,

Since we're talking about harmonica chops, I have a song by a french band with some crazy harmonica playing on it. The lyrics of the song are hilarious, but in french, so you'll probably have to be happy with only the music. The band is not famous, they only did one album, so there's no place to listen to it on the interwebs.
If you'd like to listen to it (you or anyone else), just send me a pm and I'll send it to you.

Kevin
