Nice to meet your family, Ed (these kids will for sure be rock stars in the future). If anytime you bring them to Spain for holidays don't forget to pay us a visit in Bilbao. Be sure that all of you will be very welcome.

Thank you very much, Garry! Very Happy

On that note, I'll share another fun pic of this $40 Dean Playmate acoustic I got for $40 or something like that years ago for my older son. I've started teaching him guitar and this is what he's playing. Gotta start out appropriately and pay his dues - no Suhr for him yet! But this cheapo acoustic is already worth heckuva lot more than what I paid for after getting defaced by a couple of blokes. Laughing

That makes me smile Ed because when I took my GG for Guthrie to sign he laughed and said... "but its already signed!"

and I said,

"Put Woz 'ere"

he laughed thinking I was joking.... but....

Went to see Marco and Bryan play with Mike Keanelly at a pub in the middle of UCSD campus in San Diego last night. That was a great gig featuring three amazing musicians although the venue sound left something to be desired. Marco is absolutely phenomenal - just unbelievable. He brings the house down and drives the crowd into a frenzy with his drum solos every time. You just can't help but smile and then break out in laughter watching what he does. And Bryan is the perfect bass player in that he holds everything together like glue - whether that's Guthrie or Keanelly along with Marco. I get more excited about this trio project by the day. Very Happy

It's funny how must superheroes' alter egos have name first and last names that start with the same letter: Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Reed Richards, Matt Murdock - there's obviously something in it!!!!

Bryan has been in my neck of the woods finishing up his new instructional DVD, so I invited him over to the house for lunch to hang out and talk about the various aspects of this project - including the recording sessions next month, a record deal afterwards and the regional tours we are planning starting in June. Bryan is a super cool guy to hang out with as well. The more I hang out with these guys, the more excited and optimistic I get about where this band will go. All the guys look at this as a long-term thing. I'm very honored to be working so closely with these monster musicians to make this project happen and get this band off the ground. The potential is quite mind-boggling to ponder. Here are a few pics of Bryan at my home with the family. Smile

Here's a little snippet of Marco's drum solo from last week's gig with Mike Keanelly and Bryan Beller that my wife recorded. I didn't even know she was recording it. Bryan's music stand is in the way covering Marco's face but you still get an idea of the type of frenzy he inspires during his solos.

Marco really is like the Guthrie of the drum world as evidenced by these vids covering very disparate musical styles and genres.

Big Band Jazz

Electronica/Techno
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMBHbb_1S2Y

Death Metal with Necrophagist

I wonder how many calories Marco would burn up during a Necrophagist show? It's gotta be in the thousands.

They're trading mp3's and charts of each other's tunes and learning them. I'm sure they'll fine-tune and re-work certain things while they record. So they will be somewhat prepared before going into the studio. Each member will contribute 3 tunes but I believe they'll have more material than that to choose from.
