This is a pretty cool book. I gave Guthrie a copy and I'm gathering that Guthrie got some good use of it.

Lotsa interesting lines and finger twisters that are very useful for real world applications. Guthrie was browsing through it when I handed it to him and he seemed to be digging what he was reading. Highly recommended to break out of ruts! _________________ Ed Yoon

Is that stuff like the "pulley technique" (IIRC) Satch uses? Tempting..
Grrrr my bookshelf is crammed with excellent advice.. gimme a book that inspires fear in me to study or second best works at my psyche to instill discipline.. like Stephen King's take on giving up smoking. _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

It's got lots of stuff along the lines of Vai, Satch, Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson and on top of that throws in some Coltrane, Martino and Metheny to boot!

must... fight ... itchy... fingers....
blank.... mental....image... of.... credit .... card....
[gasp] I've put it on my christmas list, but to be brutally Frank, it'll be casting pearls before swine... it'll probably be like the Ted Greene books to be read again and again and again.. _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

[impending urge to buy book mantra going on in the background]
yeah, I bought them all.. every page is like a hit from a particularly trippy bucket.. I just sit there dazed for a while. He's a thinker a bit like me.. I do more thinking than anything else, during the day.. lord bless office jobs in IT..
I've got 20 pages into Modern Chord Progressions and I wrote about 4 tunes and found a solo version of 'Harvest for the World' in the first 4 progression examples, I'd love to feel the satisfaction of completing one of the books but they kinda inspire which means they get put down again... _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

I will start offering this book at the shop. Just worked that out with Zack. This is really serious stuff that gets your creative juices going. We all know how easy it is for us to get stuck or trapped in those dreaded boxes on the fingerboard - pentatonic, diatonic, chromatic, whatever... This book will really help you break out of those boxes and let your mind do the walking. _________________ Ed Yoon
