Just gorgeous... I was watching the Guthrie T.M. DVD with the wife - who's not into guitars at all - and she said that Guthrie's Suhr was abolutely beautiful. She said that I should get one like that... |

That thing looks gorgeous. If you compare these pics with the pictures of Gunthries Suhr the flame top looks less detailed. http://online-discussion.dhenderson.com/GuthrieGovan/viewtopic.php?t=184&start=0 But then again the lighting conditions on both set of pictures are very diferent. Other than that , That guitar looks incredible! Cant wait to get one! |

You're right, but Guthrie's been very, very lucky with every one of the Suhrs he received. Every one he got has been spectacular by even Suhr standards. The Root Beer Std, the Cherry Burst Std, the Ocean Turquoise Classic, and the Butterscotch Classic T are all exceptionally great guitars - they all have that extra special mojo and the magic that are hard to describe. And Guthrie will tell you that all of them just fit him like a glove. With a lot of other artists, there's almost always some tweaking necessary or having to change the body wood, swap out the pickups, or change the necks because the neck shape wasn't quite right for their hands, or the guitars were missing some frequencies they wanted hear, etc. But with Guthrie, every guitar has been virtually perfect for him from the moment he put his hands on one. It's been almost creepy how well the guitars have worked for him.
For instance, the Classic T that Guthrie got from us at NAMM: we had four Classic T's on display there. Now all four were very nice guitars, but I remember Guthrie's being just a little more special. And different people going through the four guitars all said the same thing. Then before Guthrie came over to pick it up, the legendary Steve Trovato (a Tele master if there ever was one) borrowed it to jam with somebody at another booth. Steve came back flabbergasted with the guitar and told John Suhr: "Jesus, that's the best Tele I've played in my life!" I was thinking, "Gee, blessed is Guthrie, isn't he!?!" _________________ Ed Yoon

oh man....what are you waiting for? Go Go Go! How many guys can say the wife totally gave them the green light to buy any guitar, much less than a Suhr guitar for that matter....
Jeez man, you got a gem of a wife there, she has good taste in guitars! |

... of course, if she ever found out that the guitar cost more than her car, I'd have a frying pan imbedded in my head. She does have good taste in guitars... now only if she were rich... |

16" fingerboard radius that's nearly flat right ?
Can you compare the neck to a Stratocaster neck,
just so I can know what it feels like ?
C, U or V ?

16" radius is fairly flat. The Ibanez RG radius is 17". The Carvin Holdsworth Model is 20". So the 16" radius is not completely flat.
It's a C shape - kind of like the early-to-mid 60's Strat neck profile but it doesn't taper up like those vintage shapes.
The Even C Slim goes from .800" thickness at the first fret to .880" thickness at the 12th fret. Vintage C starts from around .810" to .930". _________________ Ed Yoon
