Does the type of wood of the fretboard make a difference to the sound of the guitar?? If yes, then what kinda sound difference will there be between a maple & rosewood??

Me allman brothers, buddy guy, moore, ufo, halen etc kinda sound. Mix of blues, rock & funk. Planning to buy a fender strat(pups upgraded to suhr v60lp) so wanna know which kinda would be better for me.

Yes, the fretboard does make a big difference. Rosewood has a darker sound, while maple is a little more open with less mids or low mids. A lot of country guys like maple necks on Telecasters because it is a lot more snappy.

Compare Guthrie's Erotic Cakes album with Greg Howe's Extaction CD. Guthrie uses rosewood, whereas Greg Howe tends to use maple.

Keep in mind, though, that these are NOT the only factors that make their tone different. Amps, pedals, guitar body wood, pickups, and even string size are all factors.

Most blues and rock players will use rosewood, although there are definitely noteworthy exceptions.

A prime example of the sound of maple would be Paul Gilbert's playing.

I have found the primary difference between all the fretboard woods to be in the feel under your fingers. The neck wood itself will have some affect on the sound but not so much for the fretboard.

Rose is gritty with great capabilities to soak up sweat when your playing live. Finished maple is slick and moisture repelent. Sustain comes primarily from the body, bridge, nut and tuners. Fretboard material is really minimal in affect. Just my two cents.
