In truth my tongue was ferreting around in my cheek. I was one of Guthrie first pupils (possibly the first, swapped a ticket for a Yngwie gig in London for two free lessons about sixteen years ago( and he was too good then)), lost touch, wondered how he was doing, looks like he’s doing well!!!! |

First time I heard Zak and Guthrie playing it was amusing to me that the two instruments together sounded a lot like something from the Starwars Cantena.. I'd love to hear them play one of the Star Wars tunes _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

Guthrie, I really enjoyed watching your Cornford demo and would like to know about your Travis Picking (both hybrid and with the pick tucked away). Where along the lines did you pick it up? Was it through Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed or via Scotty Moore and the early Elvis stuff? Are you familiar with Jerry Reed's guitar stuff (not the whacky singing stuff) and was Lenny Breau an influence on you at all?
I noticed in a previous answer you mentioned Brent Mason as a guy who can play everything. Wuold love for you and Brent to do a G2 of sorts....imagine the diversity of the crowd .
Cheer, Jon |

What classical composers and pieces of music do you like Guthrie?
My favourites are Franz Liszt, Olivier Messiaen and Richard Wagner.
... Love James XXX |
