Hi Scott. Back when you were using the Voodoo 1/tube screamer combination did you ever turn the gain up on the Voodoo or did you usually leave it off? Thanks.

I usually left it off - the gain on the Voodoo 1 can be kinda fizzy sounding. I also experimented with the order, but liked the Tube Screamer into the Voodoo 1 better. I think Mike Landau liked the reverse.

I used the Voodoo 1 by itself on Transatlantic (from People Mover). The amp was a Fender - when I use it with a Marshall there's way too much bass for me.

Would you recommend turning the gain up on the Voodoo 1 at all or should it be used strictly as a boost when stacking with the Tube Screamer?

Most of the time I had the Voodoo 1 gain off but a few times I turned it up to about 10 o'clock if I needed a little more gain. It sounded better to get that from the Voodoo 1 than the Tube Screamer since it's gain was already at 2 o'clock. Using a little gain from the Voodoo 1 added some fizziness, but the cymbals covered it up. Adding more gain from the TS made it more nasal sounding so I never did it that way.
