Hey Scott. Does a vintage 50 watt Marshall plexi (bass spec) have more or about the same amount of gain as an old Fender blackface amp? Thanks.

I think the Fender would probably go into distortion sooner than the Marshall. I've owned a 100 watt plexi and those amps are really clean until you turn them almost all the way up. My blackface Bandmaster will start distorting at around 7. Of course that's just based on my experience and I haven't owned that many Fenders or Marshalls - there could be amps made by both companies which break up differently.
