This is really really sad. But it might be educational in a community type way as well... Well anyway. Where's Guthrie in your CD collection? DVD collection, iPod artists, where's Erotic Cakes in the ipod albums?
all of mine were amusingly embarrassing.
As an artist on the ipod Guthrie comes between Guitar Techniques (possibly the tuning notes from 40+ Guitar Techniques CDs) and Hal Leonard (one of he MIT books I think)
As an album Engines of Creation and Evil Empire.
At home the album sits between and Nick Drake and Extreme.
If I had the DVDs it'd sit between Takeshi Kitamura's Dolls and Howl's Moving Castle.
... yes it is geeky but I think it'd make an interesting topic.. getting to know the randomly or alphabetically a little bit more about other people who like Guthrie (even bad stuff - I hardly ever listen to Engines, RATM or Extreme any more).... go on, have a look, it might be interesting _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

I sometimes look at stuff like that.
On my iTunes Guthrie Govan comes between GunsNRoses and Herbie Hancock.
Embarassingly the Erotic Cakes album come between Enema of the State (blink 182) and Eva by Heart (Eva Cassidy) in the album list.
Like you frankus I very rarely listen to either of those albums, probably eva cassidy more though.
while we're at it. I have 38 tracks under Guthrie in my iTunes, how about you guys?

On my Windows Media Player, Guthrie sits nicely between GPS (who'd da thunk it? ) and Joe Satriani.
Erotic Cakes is between 'Epitaph' by Necrophagist and 'Focus' by Cynic; which is strange to see an instrumental guitar album between two of the most smokin' hot technical death metal albums of all time
As for the song 'Erotic Cakes', it sits beside 'Eric' (darned coincidences!) and 'Erotic Nightmares' by you know who |

Yeah same here, CD is in *there* somewhere, but...in iTunes he sits snugly between Gustav Mahler ( a popular choice ) and Haji's Kitchen.

Guys have a look where it is in the pile I found to my horror that it's between Evanesance and Extreme today.. I.. errr seem to have 162 tracks labelled Guthrie Govan ... in my defence that'll be Guitar Techniques from 2003-2007 ... all the Fellowship stuff is labelled The Fellowship not Guthrie.. _________________ Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held my magic Suhr(d) aloft and said "by the power of great scale!"

OK had a look on the CD shelf. It lies between "Jimmy Raney: Jazz Guitar Rarities" and The Pharcyde's "Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde".
Ah I remember the joyous days when that CD collection was in alphabetical order... _________________ Cheers

By album, EC sits between The Django Reinhardt NY Festival: Live at Birdland (incredible CD!) and Greg Howe's Extraction.
By artist, Guthrie sits between Greg Howe and Holdsworth.
Ironically, by genre, Erotic Cakes somehow fell between DT's Awake and Falling into Infinity.
By release year, it was first on the list, followed by DT's Octavarium (I guess I need to start buying some CDs!)
And then for length, it falls between Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and Art Tatum
But by rating, it's clearly first on the list
Oh, and it was the most recently played CD as well! |

As an artist on the ipod Guthrie comes between Guns N' Roses and Harold Faltermeyer(how'bout that).
As an album between Empire(Queensrÿche) and Exempt(Garsed & Helmrich)
At home I'm not sure but I've got them in alphabetical order(by surname).
The dvd's are in a pile on top of the TV.
And he's of course on the 100+ GTCD's I've got lying around.
On my 25 most played list there's Waves and Erotic Cakes. _________________ Jesus saves, but Gretzky scores on the rebound |

Mine is between Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Grateful Dead.
Using the surname, forename filing system, I have Guthrie under Govan, Guthrie.
Is this controversial? |

On iPod - between Gustav Mahler and Hayseed Dixie
Album - between Endless Road (Tommy Emmanuel) and Everybody Loves You (Kaki King)
The CD itself is sitting between Derek Sherinian's Blood Of The Snake and the Floyd's Wish You Were Here. _________________ "He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. I've been using artists' first names as placement for my CD rack in most cases (Chris Poland under C; Paul Gilbert under P; but Frank Zappa under Z). Thus, Guthrie ends up being placed between Guns N' Roses and Hectic Watermelon.
However, pretty soon the CD is going to be sitting out on my desk and betwixt neither of them! _________________ My mind still refuses to acknowledge my existence... |

this thread is neato
- in my iPod -
Artists: between Greg Koch (meh) and Incubus (ewww)
Playlists: between DT Plus (Dream Theater/JP/LTE) and Gym
Albums: between Endless Road (Tommy Emmanuel) and Everyday (Dave Matthews, haven't listened to this in ages)
Genre: (Guitar genre) between Greg Koch and Joe Satriani
I recently cleared my iTunes library and lost a lot of metadata, but
- in iTunes -
Artists: between Gordian Knot and Helmet
my CD is physically (and figuratively) on top of every other CD that happens to reside next to my CD player.
(notice my subtle use of perspective )
One of these days, I'll get the Tone Merchants 1/19/05 DVD. And it will sit right next to the only other DVD that I own - Dream Theater "Score." |
